Fashion designer, Pouneh Askarian, was born in 1981 in Tehran. Her passion from childhood was in math and physics . Askarian enrolled in Physics program for the first year of her university studies.
Askarian changed her career path in year 2000 to fashion since she found her self strong in pattern making skills after taking some short term courses and she was fascinated by the amount of creativity that involves in this industry.
After graduating from Kwantlen University College (Vancouver, Canada), she wanted to explore this field in Europe, so moved to London to attend University of the Arts London (London College of Fashion)
In 2006, Pouneh Askarian presented her graduation collection inspired by Persian art and launched her label in 2007 in Canada.
Askarian’s design objective is minimalism and culture. Shifting from the East to the West, she always mixes multicultural touches and metropolitan cuts to create an exclusive collection.
Most of Pouneh Askarian’s Garments showcase a softer, more wearable silhouette while still having great style. . Her aim, “…to get inspired by the traditions in a modern life, for a contemporary woman who embraces different cultures”
Pouneh Askarian’s latest collection “ Gold Peafowl” is a journey between Japanese Kimono silhouettes to Middle Eastern nature in a glamorous way. This collection will be showcased in Vancouver Fashion week 2013.
The pieces are mainly in ever-present classis : black and beige and beautiful touches of gold. Materials are a diverse mixture of fabrics from chiffon to leather and shiny cottons. Color will be presented in this collection by the best quality hand made silk from Kashan-Iran. The Embellished laces and “Gold Peafowl” hand embroideries add an extra razzle-dazzle to this collection.
